Who to notify about changing my name?

Once your Deed Poll has been signed, dated, and correctly witnessed, it becomes a legal document. Your next important task is to inform all the organisations that hold your personal details, so they can update their records and issue new documents in your new name.

It is highly recommended that you send an original Deed Poll document (not a photocopy) to government departments and banks. However, policies can vary. Always check the specific requirements of each organisation before sending your valuable documents.
